About Our NGO

JAGO GAON believes that the soul of India still resides in its villages. India, which is the land of coexistence of paradoxes, where opulence of a selective few exists along with utter penury prevailing in the oppressed masses. Any growth, therefore, which is not inclusive growth, is no growth. Jago Gaon therefore aims to make a humble attempt in inducing hope in nooks which, unfortunately, till date form an ignored section.

Education is evidently the panacea. Starting with the most oppressed sections in areas where they are present in alarming numbers, Jago Gaon undertakes spreading education in classes who do not acknowledge its importance or have been denied the right to it socially. For example, in the Musahar community in Bihar, (who has been named thus, owing to the prevailing practice of eating rats and vermin) education till date fails to find a vent to creep in. Inducing education, or rather making these classes address the issue of depravity and depicting education as a solution is the first and perhaps the greatest hurdle.

JAGO GAON constantly takes education to their doorsteps. Starting with constantly visiting homes of these classes and earning credibility, Jago Gaon then starts the attempt to help visualize a possible better future and subsequently present education as a hope. Gaining acceptability at an early stage, it attempts to bring primary education to everyone and essential education to the children at an early age. It provides books and essential amnesties for education. Since it would be too naïve to believe that even with the availability of an accessible school, the suppressed masses would come readily, it takes an initiative to visit homes on a regular basis and educating at doorsteps.
